Executive Vice President, Human Resources and Organizational Development
Glenn Gross is currently EVP of HR & Organizational Development with Life & Specialty Ventures LLC, a holding company formed in 2005 as a joint venture between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida and Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield. Through its affiliates, USAble Life and Florida Combined Life, LSV offers groups and individuals ancillary products (dental, life, disability, and worksite), insures over 1.4 million individuals, generates more than $500M a year in premium, and is licensed to sell its products in 48 states and the District of Columbia.
Gross is an accomplished champion for change with strong business acumen and multi-industry experience, including Financial Services, Pharma, Consulting, and Insurance. He is able to integrate HR and talent management practices to enhance organizational capabilities and drive profitable growth. He has expertise and achievements in Human Capital Strategy, Talent Management, Leadership Coaching/Consulting, Organizational Development/Change, Leadership Development, Succession Management, Team Effectiveness, Performance Management and HR Leadership.
At LSV, he is responsible for developing and implementing strategic HR initiatives to drive business results. He provides operational oversight of LSV’s enterprise HR, Learning & Development, and Legal & Compliance functions supporting over 600 employees across five sites. Among his accomplishment:
· He developed and implemented an enterprise human capital strategy, a new leadership talent planning process, and an executive compensation model.
· He staffed his HR-OD team with capable, motivated professionals who have significantly increased the function’s business impact and service quality.
· He launched a new enterprise Learning & Development function, staffing it with experienced professionals who have implemented a new leadership curriculum, a new learning management system, and a comprehensive library of on-line courses readily accessible to LSV’s geographically dispersed workforce.
· With LSV’s CEO, he profiled, structured, and staffed the senior leadership team with accomplished industry professionals able to keep pace with LSV’s projected growth in scale and complexity.
· With his LSV leadership colleagues, he guided LSV though a large scale transformation designed to better position it for profitable growth.
Earlier in his career, Gross held progressively more responsible positions at three large financial institutions including Barnett Banks, Inc. as VP/Corporate Director for Executive & Organization Development. Barnett was Florida’s leading financial institution, ranked in the top 25 in the US, with more than $43 billion in assets and 21,000 employees. It was consistently rated one of the best-managed US financial institutions. Through acquisition, it is now doing business as Bank of America. At Barnett, Gross successfully guided company-wide implementation of talent planning, key management succession, leadership development, and performance management processes. He coached senior leaders and executive teams to enhance operating performance. And, he contributed significantly to the effort to speed-up the organization’s path to a successful sales culture. While at Barnett, Gross was named a “Rising Star in HR” by Human Resource Executive.
Following Barnett, Gross joined the global R&D division of Pfizer Inc, the world's largest pharmaceutical company. There, he started and led an internal consultancy that supported product teams and governance in all phases of human and animal drug development. He consulted to global leaders of Finance, IT, Strategic Planning, Operations, HR, Intellectual Property, Project Management and Veterinary Medicine at division headquarters in design and implementation of talent and succession planning, performance management, leader development, team effectiveness, and change management solutions. Gross and his team created and deployed tools that accelerated integration of Pfizer and Warner Lambert R&D operations. He also led functional integration teams that helped determine the post merger culture and structure for HR and OD.
After Pfizer, Gross joined Right Management, a world leader in HR consulting, as SVP, Consulting Services where he led the Central and North Florida Organizational Consulting practice. He had responsibility for business development and implementation of customized programs across multiple client industries/sectors including R&D, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Construction, Financial Services, government agencies, and nonprofits.
Complementing his corporate and consulting experience, Gross has an MBA as well as a Masters degree in Organizational Psychology from the University of Detroit. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oakland University, majoring in Social Studies/Education and Psychology with a minor in English. He has also completed the Advanced Program in OD & HR Management at Columbia University and the Graduate School of Bank Management at the University of Michigan. Gross has been a Trustee of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce and a member of Epping Forest Yacht Club and All Saints Episcopal Church. In his free time, he is an avid swimmer and enjoys mountain hiking.
