Julie Marshall

Executive Vice President, Sales


With a sales and marketing leadership background in the insurance industry, Marshall was most recently named as Executive Vice President, Sales, Life and Specialty Ventures (LSV) and its affiliate, USAble Life, where she leads the company’s growth efforts.  LSV was launched in 2005 and by 2008 had revenue of $400M with over 600 employees.  Marshall is known for her tenacity and skills to start-up sales and marketing operations and to successfully execute against strategic goals.  She is highly regarded for not only her consistent success in driving business, but also for her ability to increase growth year-over-year. 

Under her direction, new sales grew at double-digit rates during the company’s initial five years.  A veteran in understanding ancillary benefits, Marshall has developed relationships with several Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans and has helped expand and launch strategies to meet financial objectives. From her ability to recognize opportunities and align people with business initiatives, along with her energy, passion and vision, significant opportunities have been realized with consistent results in both execution and growth.

From start-up, Marshall’s key responsibilities have included the oversight of Channel Sales, Sales Training and Support, Business Sales Reporting, Commissions, and Account Management. This includes exceeding growth objectives through organic growth and an acquisition within Blue Cross Blue Shield partner Plans.

In her robust career, Marshall has held a variety of roles with increasing responsibilities.   She began her career with Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield where she joined the organization as a National Account Representative in 1979.  Promoted several times during the next nine years, her passion for sales was evident as she excelled as a Sales Representative, Account Executive and then Regional Sales Manager.  Promoted to Director of Marketing for USAble Life in 1987, Marshall started a sales operation that included building worksite sales capability, facilitating the company to partner with Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans to sell ancillary benefits.  With a promotion to VP Marketing, she demonstrated increasing skills to grow the business in each year, meeting or exceeding expectations.  In her role as EVP, Sales, Marshall has used her experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm for the business to help LSV succeed.   

Linking her passion for sales and marketing to the community, Marshall has served as the Board Chairman for the Arkansas Symphony and earlier for other positions.  She is a member of the Arkansas Arts Center; University of Arkansas Little Rock, “Friends of the Arts;” Arkansas Children’s Hospital Auxiliary; and University of Arkansas Alumni Club.

Marshall graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Marketing Major).  She holds a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation, the highest level designation available in the life insurance industry.  In addition to her commercial and philanthropic interests, Marshall enjoys decorating, gardening, cooking, and traveling.
