Murphy Joins LSV to Lead Dental Operations

Life and Specialty Ventures, LLC, (LSV) has named Edward Murphy as Executive Vice President of Dental Operations. LSV is a holding company that through its affiliates, USAble Life and Florida Combined Life, offers groups and individuals the opportunity to purchase ancillary products including dental, life, disability and worksite. Murphy is based in the company’s Massachusetts office.

“Ed comes to LSV with a tremendous amount of industry experience and we are thrilled to have him join our executive leadership team,” said Jason Mann, LSV President and CEO.

Murphy co-founded Dental Benefit Providers (DBP) and grew DBP into the seventh-largest oral health insurer in the United States, covering more than 3 million lives. He designed and created DBP’s business model of a full-service, private-label dental insurer and built its distribution through strong partnerships with national and regional health insurance plans.

“With our new relationship with United Concordia and Highmark, we are in a great position to further expand our business model and create a robust dental capability,” said Jim Casey, LSV Chief Operating Officer. “We are excited to have Ed lead this effort and look forward to our continued success.”

Murphy recently co-founded two unique organizations, FreshFarm Markets, a not-for-profit Farmer’s Market serving over a half million customers in the Washington, D.C. metro area, and Preventive Medicine, a health informatics company dedicated to health and well-being, which utilizes a proprietary health and behavioral change model based on e-learning technology.

Previously, Murphy was a board member of the National Association of Dental Plans for six years, serving as chair of the board for three years.
