Group Short Term Disability

Short Term Disability is an invaluable coverage designed to provide partial income replacement for eligible employees who become disabled as a result of covered accident or sickness, including pregnancy.

Minimum Size Group

10 lives


Minimum Participation

Non-contributory: 100% if the employer pays the entire cost.
Contributory: 75% if the employees contribute to cost.


Benefit Periods Available

13 Weeks or 26 Weeks (Other benefit periods may be available upon request to coincide with a Long Term Disability Plan's elimination period.)


Benefits Begin

The 1st, 8th, 15th or 31st day of disability for accident and/or sickness. First day benefits, for accident only, are also available.


Benefit Percentages and Maximum Benefits

Recommended: 50% or 60% of weekly earnings
Maximum percentage is 70% of weekly earnings to a maximum benefit of:

*Guaranteed Issue amount may be less than the maximum benefit.


Schedules Available

Earnings Schedule with STD benefits equal to 50%, 60%, 66 2/3% or 70% of the employee's weekly earnings to a maximum dollar amount.

Occupational Schedule with classes and amounts that must be designed so that the amount of insurance will not exceed 70% of the lowest earnings in each class.


Termination

STD Benefits terminate at retirement and may not be converted.
